🏏 Love Cricket Summer Camp 25–28 August

Love Cricket is a fun and inclusive holiday cricket camp for boys and girls aged 8–13, welcoming everyone from complete beginners to enthusiastic club players.

Running from 9:00am–3:00pm across five full days at Whiteley Village Cricket Club, the camp combines enjoyable games, high-quality coaching and plenty of match play. Children will have opportunities to practise their batting, bowling and fielding while building confidence, making friends and, most importantly, having a brilliant time playing cricket.

We believe holiday cricket should be fun first. Our smaller groups allow us to give children individual attention within a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere. The week includes lots of games and matches before finishing with a friendly competition and awards.

💚 Our story

Love Cricket is especially important to us because the three of us attended the original camp every year between the ages of 8 and 13.

We spent our Easter and summer holidays there, rain or shine, playing sport outdoors, having fun and making friends — some of whom have remained friends for life. For us, the camp was never just about improving as cricketers. It was about spending the holidays with friends, being active and creating memories that have stayed with us.

Since then, we have completed university and continued developing as coaches and players. With experience playing and coaching sport at a range of high levels, we decided there was no better place to begin than by bringing back the camp we loved so much.

We now want to pass that same enthusiasm on to the next generation and create the kind of welcoming, enjoyable cricket experience that meant so much to us growing up.

👋 Meet the team

The camp is led by ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) qualified coaches Will Hawkins and Jake Zemmel, alongside professional cricketer Ollie Pascall.

Ollie Pascall is a professional cricketer currently playing for Middlesex. A former Surrey player, he has also spent the last two years playing in Australia and New Zealand, bringing valuable professional experience and insight to every session.

Will Hawkins graduated from the University of Leeds, having played a number of sports to a high level. He now plays club cricket and combines that playing experience with his ECB coaching qualifications to help every child improve while enjoying the game.

Jake Zemmel is studying at the University of Leeds and has also competed in multiple sports at a high level. As an ECB-qualified coach and club cricketer, he is passionate about creating a relaxed, supportive environment where every child can develop with confidence.

🏏 What to Expect

Every day is packed with cricket, energy and fun, with children actively involved from start to finish.

We make sure every child receives the attention they need, regardless of age or ability, so they are challenged appropriately and supported throughout the day. Sessions blend high-quality coaching with exciting games, helping players learn naturally while enjoying themselves.

A typical day includes:

• 🏃 Fast-paced warm-ups and skill challenges to get everyone moving

• 🏏 Fun batting, bowling and fielding activities with plenty of friendly competitions

• 🎯 Small-sided matches where every child gets regular opportunities to bat, bowl and field

• 🤝 Team games and challenges designed to build confidence, teamwork and enjoyment

• ⭐ A positive, encouraging atmosphere where effort, improvement and fun come first

We keep the environment competitive in the right way, while making sure every child is engaged, included and leaves each day with a smile.

🎒 Equipment and refreshments

All cricket equipment needed to participate will be provided, although children are very welcome to bring their own if they prefer (bats, ball, pads and helmets).

A tuck shop selling sweets, snacks and drinks will also be available during the camp.

Children should bring:

• A packed lunch and snacks (but NO NUTS)

• Plenty of water

• Sun cream and a sun hat

• Comfortable sports clothing and trainers

• A waterproof layer for wet weather

• Any required medication

Bad weather won't stop the fun. We have special cricket activities planned for wet-weather periods so that children can continue enjoying the camp rain or shine.
